The Detex EAX-300 is a compact, battery-powered door prop alarm for doors that may be used for egress or ingress but may not be held or propped open. When a door stays open past the field-selectable door prop time - 1 second to 4 minutes, with a 15 second default - it sounds a 100 dB piezo alarm, and the alarm silences itself as soon as the door is closed, so no key-holder trip is needed. Fully self-contained on 9 VDC battery power with a low battery alert, it mounts to the door or the wall, and the tapered, tamper-resistant housing installs even on narrow stile doors.
Arming is key controlled through a mortise cylinder keyswitch, and the cylinder is sold separately: order the MC65 option for a factory-installed Detex mortise cylinder, or the IC7 7-pin interchangeable-core housing or IK7 InstaKey housing. Compatible cylinders stocked by JMAC include the Detex MC65 6-pin mortise cylinder in the Schlage C keyway, the Detex 102281-7 5-pin mortise cylinder keyed alike 42642, and the Kaba Ilco 7185SC1-26D satin chrome mortise cylinder keyed to the same 42642 code. A patented plastic template aligns the internal magnetic door contact for foolproof installation, and an intelligent circuit senses the external magnet location and sets door handing automatically.
