A format converter fixes the problem where a reader outputs one card format and the panel expects another. Rather than reissuing every credential on site, the converter translates between them at the door.

The Databender universal format converter is listed as supporting many different input and output formats, which is the version to specify when the formats are not known in advance or may change.

Two preconfigured versions are also listed, one with standard conversions and one with special conversions, both documented in the manufacturer's manual. These suit a known pairing and take less setup than the universal unit.
