MEDC signals are designed for use in potentially explosive gas and dust atmospheres, and many use glass reinforced polyester enclosures suitable for offshore or onshore installation.

XB11 strobes are UL listed with a 29 candela rating, a 24 VDC input (110 and 240 VAC versions are cited), and a 60 per minute flash rate, while XB15 strobes reach 330 or 355 candela. Listings cite NEMA 4X and 6 and IP66 ratings, a certified temperature range of -67F to 158F, and UL and cUL approvals for Class 1, Div 2 hazardous locations.
