UL certified for fire exit hardware, the 9827-F/9927-F Fire Exit Surface Mounted Vertical Rod Device pairs of doors up to 8' x 10' (2438mm x 3048mm). Information about the UL-approved fire escape hardware label and door opening size may be found in full on page 76. Devices are Grade 1 ANSI A156.3, 2008 compliant. The case of the 9827-F device is smooth, while the case of the 9927-F device is grooved. Except when the signal switch and tornado/hurricane device options are engaged, the surface vertical rod device is non-handed. The possible outside trim and device functions are shown on the next page. To prevent the bottom rod of the exit mechanism from being harmed by impacts from carts or gurneys passing through doors, vertical rod and latch protectors are supplied. On composite fire doors made of hollow metal or tin cladding, rod and latch guards may be utilized.
