The 900-4RL incorporates four dry-contact control inputs (I1-I4) and four Form C relay outputs (O1-O4). Inputs activate when a normally open control contact closes between the corresponding input and signal common terminal. Each relay provides 30VDC, 3A dry-contact switching capacity or a 12/24VDC, 3A powered output rating when operated from a compatible AC-powered PS900 supply. The combined output load must remain within the connected power supply's capacity and the manufacturer's stated 6A maximum for the board. Internal circuitry consumes up to 0.18A of the supply's available output current. When paired with the high-inrush PS914 power supply, the board can accommodate specified Von Duprin electric latch retraction devices requiring a 24VDC, 16A momentary inrush for 300 milliseconds, provided the complete system is configured according to Allegion's installation instructions.

The 900-4RL supports three field-selectable operating modes for different door control requirements. In 4TD mode, the board provides four controlled outputs with adjustable release timing for applications requiring timed unlocking or sequential activation. In AO mode, its integrated logic coordinates electrified locking hardware with compatible automatic door operators, allowing the locking device to release before the operator initiates door movement. In SI mode, security interlock logic manages controlled openings where door operation must be coordinated to prevent unauthorized simultaneous access. These functions accommodate installations involving card readers, request-to-exit controls, activation switches, electric latch retraction exit devices, and access control panels. Timing and logic are configured using onboard switches according to the selected application, eliminating the need for separate external timing relays in supported configurations.

The module also accepts an optional 900-FA fire alarm interface board for applications requiring coordinated emergency release functionality.
