The Von Duprin 6200 Series is a family of heavy duty electric strikes for mortise and cylindrical locksets, with 17 configurations covering single doors and pairs across hollow metal, aluminum, and wood frames. An electric strike releases a locked door remotely by moving the strike lip, or keeper, when someone presents a credential or presses an entry button - a cost effective way to add access control to an opening without replacing the lockset.
Construction is heavy duty stainless steel throughout, rated to 1500 lbs static and 70 ft-lbs dynamic strength, and the series is fully UL 1034 listed for burglary resistant electric door strikes, UL 294 listed for access control, and UL 10C fire rated to 3 hours in fail secure mode. All models carry a 3/4 inch latchbolt throw, and two piece plug connectors make installation and strike servicing straightforward.
Every unit ships 24 VDC fail secure as standard, with 12, 16, and 28 VDC and fail safe mode selectable at order. Options add dual monitor switches for latch bolt and lock status, a rectifier kit when only AC power is available, an entry buzzer, and the Allegion Connect wire extension. The series is built for new construction and also retrofits many competitive and older Von Duprin strikes.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between fail secure and fail safe?
- Fail secure (FSE) needs power to unlock, so the door stays locked in a power outage. Fail safe (FS) needs power to lock, so the door unlocks in a power outage. Fail secure is the default and is what most access control openings use.
- Which mode can I use on a fire rated opening?
- Fail secure only. The UL 10C 3 hour fire rating applies to FSE units; fail safe units are not fire rated, because a fire door has to stay latched. Specify FSE on any fire rated opening.
- How do I pick the right model out of 17?
- Start with three questions: single door or a pair, mortise or cylindrical lockset, and frame material (hollow metal, aluminum, or wood). Models 6210 through 6216 serve single doors and 6221 through 6226 serve pairs. Send us the lockset model and frame type and we will confirm the strike.
- Will it work with my existing lockset?
- The series covers most major mortise locksets from Von Duprin, Schlage, Sargent, Corbin, Yale, Falcon, Best, Adams Rite, Baldwin, Russwin, and Precision, and cylindrical locksets with a 1/2 to 3/4 inch latchbolt projection (3/8 to 3/4 inch for Best and Schlage). Note that signalling may not work with a 3/8 inch throw bolt.
- My power supply is AC. Can I still use these?
- Yes, with a rectifier kit. Specify S012 for a 12 VAC supply or S024 for 24 VAC, and it converts the supply to DC to operate the solenoid.
- Can it tell me whether the door is latched?
- Yes, with the optional DS dual monitor switches, which report both latch bolt and lock status. Choose DS-LC if the switches feed a computer or low current input.
- Can I add an audible entry signal?
- Yes, the EB entry buzzer. It is available only on fail secure units.
- Can these replace an older strike?
- Often yes. The series was designed to retrofit many competitive strikes and older Von Duprin 3000 series models. Some retrofits need additional frame prep, so confirm the model against the existing cutout before ordering.
- What finishes are available?
- Six: polished brass (US3), dull brass (US4), dull bronze (US10), dark bronze oil rubbed (US10B), polished stainless (US32), and satin stainless (US32D), which is the most commonly specified.
