The lock features a 628 dull aluminum finish and is designed for concealed installation in properly prepared commercial door openings. Its low-profile configuration supports access-controlled office entrances, commercial buildings, institutional facilities, and other installations requiring electronically secured swinging or sliding doors.

The 1091AIV incorporates a 5/8-inch-diameter solid stainless steel locking bolt with a 3/4-inch projection, providing positive mechanical engagement with its corresponding strike plate. The bolt rotates freely within the mechanism, helping resist attempts to grip, cut, or manipulate the exposed locking surface. A specification-grade continuous-duty solenoid controls locking operation and supports field-selectable 12VDC or 24VDC power with a manufacturer-specified voltage tolerance of 10%. The lock includes a field-adjustable automatic relock ball switch that keeps the bolt retracted while the door remains open. When the door closes, the switch is depressed and the bolt automatically projects into the aligned strike opening, restoring the secured condition without a separate relock command. The bidirectional switch design accommodates approved swinging and sliding door applications and can be adjusted to compensate for variations in door clearance. The SDC 1091AIV features an 8-inch-long by 1-1/2-inch-wide by 1/8-inch-thick faceplate and a corresponding 4-inch by 1-1/2-inch strike plate. The concealed lock body requires an internal frame cavity measuring approximately 8 inches long, 1-1/2 inches wide, and 1-1/2 inches deep. Two aluminum mounting tabs are supplied to secure the assembly within the prepared opening. SDC supports both horizontal overhead mounting and vertical side-jamb mounting, with final orientation and bolt alignment established according to the manufacturer's installation instructions. The adjustable automatic relock switch permits field adjustment for door gaps exceeding the standard 1/8-inch clearance. The standard 1091AIV does not include a mechanical key override or deadlocking option; those functions require separately specified configurations.
