The Honeywell Home 5881ENM is a 16-zone, 345 MHz wireless RF receiver for compatible Honeywell VISTA security and fire alarm control panels. Designed to integrate Honeywell 5800 Series wireless sensors, transmitters, and keyfobs, it features Spatial Diversity reception, a nominal indoor wireless range of 200 feet (60 meters), and four-wire ECP keypad-bus connectivity. Operating at 12 VDC with a typical current draw of 60 mA, the receiver supports wireless alarm, status, and supervision reporting. It is UL listed for applicable light commercial fire alarm installations.

Honeywell 5881ENM 16-Zone 345 MHz Wireless RF Receiver for VISTA Panels

The Honeywell Home 5881ENM is a 16-zone wireless radio-frequency receiver operating at 345 MHz, designed to expand compatible Honeywell VISTA fire and security alarm control panels with wireless detection and control capabilities. Part of the ADEMCO 5881EN Series by Resideo, this medium-capacity receiver supports up to 16 wireless alarm zones, enabling integration of compatible Honeywell 5800 Series door and window contacts, motion detectors, wireless heat detectors, smoke detectors, and security transmitters. The receiver connects directly to the alarm control panel's four-wire keypad data bus, allowing wireless devices to communicate with the panel without individual hardwired zone connections. Its compatibility with supported residential and light commercial alarm systems makes it suitable for homes, apartment buildings, offices, retail facilities, institutional properties, and security system retrofit projects requiring wireless zone expansion.

The 5881ENM incorporates Spatial Diversity reception technology with dual antennas to reduce radio-frequency dead spots and improve wireless signal reception in challenging building environments. The receiver operates at 345 MHz and provides a nominal indoor reception range of approximately 200 feet (60 meters), although actual coverage depends on building construction, transmitter placement, electrical interference, and site conditions. Its receiver sensitivity and noise rejection are dynamically adjusted to account for surrounding radio-frequency conditions, while an onboard interference indicator helps installers identify locations with excessive RF noise. The system recognizes alarm, status, and wireless keypad control transmissions from compatible Honeywell 5800 Series equipment. It also supports up to 16 compatible high-security encrypted wireless key transmitters, subject to control panel programming and key compatibility. Receiver address selection is configured using onboard DIP switches, allowing compatible control panels to recognize the receiver and support installations using one or two individually addressed receivers for extended or redundant RF coverage.

The Honeywell 5881ENM operates from a nominal 12 VDC power supply provided through the control panel's auxiliary power and keypad terminals, with a typical current consumption of 60 mA. Its four-wire ECP connection uses red for positive 12V power, black for ground, yellow for data input from the control, and green for data output to the control. The receiver measures 7-3/8 inches wide, 4-3/8 inches high, and 1-7/16 inches deep (188 x 112 x 37 mm), with an overall height of approximately 10-7/8 inches (277 mm) including the antennas. Designed for dry indoor installations, the receiver operates within an ambient temperature range of 32 F to 122 F (0 C to 50 C). The unit can be surface-mounted in its supplied plastic housing or, where permitted by the control panel manufacturer, installed as a circuit board inside a compatible alarm control cabinet. Its separate antennas and adjustable mounting arrangement allow installers to position the receiver away from metal surfaces and sources of RF interference for improved communication reliability.

The 5881ENM is designed for integration with compatible Honeywell VISTA control panels and 5800 Series unidirectional wireless security devices. The receiver supports supervised wireless alarm reporting and uses the panel's programming interface to enroll transmitters, assign wireless zone types, and configure alarm response. Manufacturer documentation identifies the 5881EN Series as UL listed for applicable commercial fire installations, with additional installation restrictions for UL 864 applications. Commercial fire configurations require approved control panel and transmitter combinations, the specified supervision settings, appropriate receiver mounting, and any required ECP isolation equipment. The 5881ENM differs from the 5881ENL eight-zone receiver and 5881ENH panel-dependent high-capacity receiver, providing an intermediate 16-zone option for installations that do not require higher wireless zone capacities. Bidirectional Honeywell devices require compatible additional communication equipment, such as the 5800TM transmitter, because the 5881ENM functions primarily as an RF receiver. Combining 16-zone capacity, 345 MHz wireless communication, Spatial Diversity reception, ECP connectivity, and compatibility with established 5800 Series devices, the Honeywell 5881ENM provides wireless expansion for supported residential and light commercial fire and intrusion alarm systems.
