The DSC TL280RE is a PowerSeries Neo Ethernet alarm communicator with RS-232 serial integration, designed to transmit intrusion alarm events over an IP network to compatible central monitoring receivers. It supports 128-bit AES encryption, SIA and Contact ID reporting, Internet supervision heartbeats, and remote programming through DLS 5 software. Compatible with DSC HS2016, HS2032, HS2064, and HS2128 control panels, the TL280RE also supports Kantech EntraPass integration and up to four Ethernet integrations with compatible PowerSeries Neo firmware.

The DSC TL280RE Internet Alarm Communicator connects PowerSeries Neo intrusion alarm control panels to central monitoring stations through an existing Ethernet network. Designed for residential and commercial security installations, the communicator transmits alarm, trouble, supervisory, and system events using SIA and Contact ID reporting protocols. Its built-in RS-232 serial interface distinguishes the TL280RE from standard Ethernet-only communicator models and enables integration with compatible third-party systems. The module works with DSC HS2016, HS2032, HS2064, and HS2128 control panels, supporting IP alarm reporting while allowing the panel's telephone communicator to remain available as an additional reporting path.

The TL280RE protects transmitted alarm information using 128-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption and supports Internet supervision heartbeats to verify communication with compatible monitoring infrastructure. Full event reporting communicates alarm conditions, openings, closings, troubles, and system restoration events to supported receivers. The communicator supports standard and encrypted line security configurations, subject to the monitoring receiver, programming, and applicable UL/ULC installation requirements. Internet-based visual verification is available when the connected PowerSeries Neo system includes compatible verification equipment. Integrated call routing and programmable reporting destinations allow installers to configure communication paths according to the monitoring service and installation requirements.

The TL280RE connects to the PowerSeries Neo control panel through its PC-Link interface and uses an Ethernet connection for network communication. Installers configure the communicator through a compatible system keypad or DSC DLS 5 downloading software, which also supports remote panel uploading and downloading over the Internet. The expanded Ethernet integration capabilities support up to four IP integrations with PowerSeries Neo control panels running firmware version 1.2 or later. The integrated RS-232 interface additionally accommodates compatible serial integrations, including supported Kantech EntraPass access control configurations. These interfaces allow the communicator to exchange system information with approved security management equipment without requiring a separate standalone alarm control panel.

The DSC TL280RE is designed for network-connected intrusion alarm monitoring, remote system maintenance, and integrated security management in homes, offices, retail properties, and commercial facilities. It supports compatible DSC Sur-Gard central station receivers and can be installed remotely from the control panel using the optional PCL-422 Communicator Remote Mounting Module and a suitable enclosure. The communicator supports UL standard and encrypted line security applications and ULC passive or active line security configurations when installed according to the manufacturer's requirements. The TL280RE is an Ethernet-only alarm communicator without an integrated cellular radio; installations requiring cellular communication must use a compatible cellular or dual-path communicator. Network configuration, receiver compatibility, firmware requirements, and monitoring service support must be verified before installation.
