Low Frequency

Low Frequency Sounder Strobes

NFPA 72 requires a 520 Hz low-frequency audible signal in sleeping areas, because the lower tone wakes children, older adults, and people with mild to moderate hearing loss more reliably than a standard 3 kHz horn. System Sensor low-frequency sounder strobes answer that requirement in a single appliance: a 520 Hz square-wave sounder paired with a selectable-candela strobe, in the P2RL-LF and P2WL-LF wall format and ceiling variants, with high-candela versions for larger rooms.

These devices install on the same universal mounting plate as the rest of the L-Series and SpectrAlert Advance lines, run on 24 V notification circuits, and synchronize with adjacent strobes. They suit hotel and dormitory rooms, assisted living, hospitals, and apartment corridors where sleeping-area coverage is required.

Sounder-only 520 Hz appliances are under sounders, and standard-tone devices are under horn strobes. Browse the full System Sensor catalog, or contact our team to confirm which spaces on a project need low-frequency coverage.
