PoE Switches for Camera Networks

Switches here are specified the way a camera install needs them: by port count, by watts per port and by total power budget. Unmanaged models run 8, 16 and 24 PoE or PoE+ ports with one or two uplinks on RJ45 or SFP, and total budgets from 250 to 480 watts.

Total budget is the number that catches people out. Sixteen cameras at 30 watts each need more than a 250 watt switch can give, so the budget has to be checked against the cameras rather than the port count alone.

Hardened managed switches cover outdoor cabinets and industrial sites, with SFP fiber ports at 100, 1000 and 2500Mbps, 60 watt PoE ports and DIN rail power supplies for high temperature locations.
