What is a Control Panel Partition?

Last Updated: 11/06/2013
Partitions are programmable areas of a security network that run independent of each other but all operate off of the same control panel.

Partitioning is one way to add a level of versatility to your security system. It allows you to take a single location -- whether it be a business or residence -- and separate it into zones. Each zone acts like its own, independent security system. It comes with its own user codes and is linked to its own monitors, sensors, and detectors. These zones actively communicate to the control panel, and sound an alarm in case of an emergency. The best part is, these partitions operate off of a single, Honeywell Ademco Control Panel. This translates to a more flexible, easy-to-install, and easy-to-operate security system.

What Honeywell Control Panel is right for me?

If you're looking to outfit your personal residence or small commercial business, like a storefront or shop, you should consider the Honeywell Vista 20P or Vista 21iP. They both offer a maximum of two partitions, which can independently monitor a storefront's inventory storage room and sales floor, or keep watch over two separate areas of your house. However, the Vista 21iP also includes a built-in IP communicator, which provides a back-up line of contact with your central monitoring station. The Honeywell Vista 128BPT and Vista 128BPE were designed to support up to 8 partitions, which is ideal for larger commercial facilities, like corporate office buildings or warehouses.
