Built-In IP Communication
The Vista 21iP ships with a built-in 7847i IP communicator, which is what allows it to work with Total Connect out of the box.
- If you have a Vista 20P instead, you can add a 7847i module to give it the same IP communication capability.
- You can also turn the Vista 21iP into a dual-path communicating device by adding a cellular communicator, which improves reliability for Total Connect communication by providing a backup path if the IP connection is interrupted.
What Total Connect Can (and Cannot) Do
Total Connect lets users arm and disarm the system, receive event log messages, and manage other basic functions remotely from a computer, tablet, or phone.
However, Total Connect's remote home automation features will not work with the Vista 21iP. Home automation on this panel is handled by the Tuxedo Touch Keypad, and that keypad is not yet compatible with Total Connect.
