Will my 5800CO detector ever need to be replaced?

Yes, like all carbon monoxide detectors, the 5800CO detector will eventually need replacing.

Overtime, the electro-chemical sensor housed inside the detector will lose sensitivity. This takes approximately 6 years. Printed on the underside of the detector's base is a suggested replacement date for the detector. The detector is also built to send an alert message to the control panel when it's reaching the end of its service life.

To replace your old detector with a new, 5800CO detector...
First, disarm your system. Disconnecting a monitored carbon monoxide detector from an armed system will trigger an alarm. Remove the old detector and dispose of it in accordance with state and local laws. Then mount the new detector in its place.
