Potter / Amseco CPS-24 PHOTOELECTRIC SMOKE DETECTOR
One bicolored LED is used by the CPS-24 photoelectric smoke detector to indicate status. The LED flashes green every 3 seconds in standby mode. The LED will blink red every three seconds when the detector detects that its sensitivity has strayed outside the UL-approved sensitivity window. The status LED will latch on Red when the smoke detector detects smoke and activates the alarm.
The detector uses a silicon photodiode receiving device and an infrared LED light source in the smoke chamber. The receiving element does not receive any light from the pulsing LED light source in a typical standby condition. When there is a fire, smoke enters the detector's smoke chamber, and light is reflected to the receiving element by the smoke particles. An electronic signal is created from the light that was received.
When five consecutive signals exceeding the reference level are received within a predetermined amount of time, the time delay circuit activates the SCR switch to activate the alarm signal. Fire Judgement signals are processed and compared to a reference level. The status LED remains lit throughout the alarm period.
