Will my GD-6 immediately start working with my alarm control panel after installation?

Not quite.

First, the GD-6 Combustible Gas Detector has to power up, which takes 60 seconds. During this time, the detector performs an internal self-test where its firmware version number is displayed and the device counts down from 60. A green indicator light will flash and fan/alarm relays will activate. This self-test initiates automatically every time the device loses power and then regains it. Following the self-test cycle, the detector will enter its normal operation mode.

After the device has powered up, it must be programmed to work with your alarm control panel. This is done from the control panel keypad, where a specific zone is assigned to the GD-6 detector. When programming is complete, the detector should begin working properly with your control panel.
