Bosch ARD-RK40-09 iCLASS Pin Reader

  • Also known as: ARDRK4009, DS-ARDRK4009, BOS-ARDRK4009

  • The Bosch ARD-RK40-09 iCLASS PIN Reader offers the benefits of contactless smart card technology and a personal identification number (PIN). Smart card technology provides enhanced security and a 13.56 MHz platform for speed.

The ARD-RK40-09 allows contactless credentials (cards, tokens, tags) with larger memory and the capacity for special applications such as biotechnology. The PIN keypad provides security and flexibility. Configure access control systems to require a credential followed by a PIN to confirm and authenticate a users identity. Or, configure the access control system to require only a credential or only a PIN.

The ARD-RK40-09 iCLASS PIN Reader from Bosch is equipped with contactless smart card technology and a Personal Identification Number (PIN). Additionally, it has an elegantly curved faceplate, distinct audio and visual indicators, and Wiegand output. The use of smart card technology provides increased security, while a 13.56 MHz platform provides speed. The PIN keypad offers flexibility and security.

The reader is compatible with larger-memory contactless credentials such as cards, tokens, or tags (sold separately). To confirm and authenticate a user's identity, the access control systems may be configured to require a credential and a PIN. Additionally, the access control system can be configured to acquire only a credential or only a PIN. Sending keypad data over the data output lines or through a direct connection to the keypad interface, the reader communicates with the access control system.

There are a total of 12 keys on the PIN keypad, including the digits 0 through 9, the number sign (#), and the asterisk symbol (*). The keys are covered with vandal-resistant metal keycaps and silicone rubber. The number 5 key has a raised tactile mark for users with visual impairments. When any key is pressed on the keypad, a beep is produced. The numbers above each key are illuminated as follows: always on, always off, when a card is read, and when a key is pressed.
    Distinct Audio & Visual Indicators
Different tones indicate status conditions such as access granted, access denied, power on, and diagnostics. The light bar at the top of the reader indicates the reader's status with red, green, or yellow light. This high-intensity light retains its color in direct sunlight. The audio and visual indicators aid users with visual impairments in distinguishing between granted and denied access.
    Increased Security
The iCLASS PIN Reader employs heightened security measures to reduce the possibility of compromised data or duplicated cards. Radio Frequency (RF) is used to transmit access control data between a credential and a reader. Standard 64-bit authentication keys (codes) must match between the reader and its compatible iCLASS credentials for RF data transmission to commence. During RF transmission, a secure algorithm encrypts the data, making it more difficult for an unauthorized individual to decipher and misuse the information.
    Flexible Installation Options
The mounting plate of the reader attaches to a single-gang wall-switch electrical enclosure (back box), a 2 to 2.4" (5.2 to 6.0cm) vertical or horizontal screw hole spacing, or a flat surface.

Compatible with both exterior and interior installations
The polycarbonate enclosure can withstand harsh environments and resist vandalism due to its resilience and weatherproofing. The enclosure also incorporates a permanent magnet. With a magnetic reed switch, the magnet enables an alarm for tampering.
    ISO Compliant Documentation
The iCLASS PIN reader employs credentials that adhere to ISO standards for contactless smart card technology.
    Wiegand Output
The Wiegand output of the reader is compatible with the vast majority of existing Wiegand protocol access control panels (available separately). The reader extracts data encoded in the standard proximity format from iCLASS cards and transmits it.
