The Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Prevention Act (SB-183) requires that a carbon monoxide detector, like the GE 260-CO, or a carbon monoxide alarm, like the Gentex CO1209, be installed in all human occupied dwellings. That said, for optimal security and protection, users are advised to install CO detectors within 10 feet of every sleeping area, in every room with a fuel-burning appliance, and on every floor of their property, including the basement.
