Does the 5815 door and window sensor use magnets?

Last Updated: 11/11/2013
The Honeywell 5815 DOES use a magnet gap to detect whether your door or window is open or closed.

In this way, the 5815 is like many of Honeywell's door and window sensors.  The 5815 comes with a magnet that can be positioned on both sides of the transmitter and still function properly.

Be careful when mounting magnet-gap sensors on steel doors because the steel can sometimes interfere with the magnetic field and diminish the power of the magnet.  In these situations, make sure to use a powerful magnet sensor, like the 947-75TBR.  Click here to read more about steel door contacts.
