That depends on whether you're using a float charger or a fast charger with your EnerSys NP4-6.

Float chargers, which can be found in Vista Series Panels, provide a slow, constant charge that can take anywhere from 12-16 hours to bring a 6 volt or 12 volt SLA battery to full capacity. However, because of their slow charging speed, there is little risk of overcharging the battery.

Fast chargers (true to their name) can charge a 6 volt or 12 volt SLA battery in 5 to 6 hours. While this charger is faster, it also increases risk of overcharging the battery, which can result in decreased performance and service life.

Switch-mode chargers employ the best characteristics of each charger to make sure your battery is charged quickly and safely, with limited risk of overcharge. Switch-mode chargers start by charging a battery in fast mode, and then automatically switch to a float-charger as the battery nears full capacity.
