How does the Vista 20P compare to the Vista 20PSIA?

Last Updated: 11/06/2013
The Vista 20P is the flagship of Honeywell Ademco Control Panels. It is one of the industry's most highly sought-after panels for home and commercial security systems. But the Vista 20PSIA is no slouch either. It boasts many of the same great features the Vista 20P offers, and more.

Both the 20P and the 20PSIA work with a maximum of 48 zones and 8 keypads. They support AlarmNet communicators and Honeywell's Total Connect service while offering up to 48 programmable user codes.

The Vista 20P and 20PSIA each offer partitioning technology which allows users to create up to two independent systems that operate with independent user codes and devices all using the same control panel.  However, the Vista 20PSIA is compatible with the Tuxedo Touch-screen Keypad, which gives the user the added benefit of controlling Z-wave automated devices, like the Z-wave Connected Thermostat

The biggest difference between the Vista 20P and the Vista 20PSIA relates to false alarm prevention. Only the Vista 20PSIA offers advanced program coding that guards against false alarms. Because of this feature, it is required in some areas by law that a Vista 20PSIA control panel be used when any new security system is installed. The financial resources wasted on false alarms overtime can be enormous. This is why the SIA panel is growing in popularity. It saves time and money associated with false alarm response in the long-run.
