What is a passage functional keyless lock?

A passage functional keyless lock, like the 1600-DC or the 2985 Lever Handle, is often installed on high traffic interior doors or gates.

The passage function makes knob and lever locked doors accessible from either side of the door. They are typically not self-locking, although some locks do have a programmable self-locking function. This style of lock is commonly used for interior office doors and pool gates. It gives the user the option of locking the door or leaving it unlocked to accommodate for times where increased human traffic would make it inconvenient for users to enter a code every time they enter or exit.
