How do I program a Vista 20P Control Panel?

Last Updated: 11/07/2013

First, you need a keypad, like the 6150 or the 6160, to program your Vista 20P control panel.  Either of these keypads are capable of basic panel programming, but the 6160 has more advanced display features that allow you to handle more complex zone programming.

Accessing Programming Mode...

Type your installer code (4 digits) into the keypad, and then "800".  ("4112" is the traditional default installer code, but is often changed by alarm companies)  For those who don't remember their installer code, simply disconnect your panel from its transformer plug and backup battery, reconnect the transformer and backup battery, then press and hold the asterisk (*) and the pound sign (#) simultaneously.  When -- *20 -- appears on the display, you have entered programming mode.

Once in Programming Mode...

Press pound (#) then "2 digit data".  A 2-digit display will appear.  Changes to a specific data field can be made by pressing the asterisk (*) followed by the 2-digit field number.  This allows you to enter in a new field number, which will be followed by 3 beeps and drop you down to the next data field.  Press the asterisk (*) after an entry if you want that entry to be less than the maximum number of digits.

Continue this process until the system is programmed to your satisfaction.  Enter -- *99  -- to save your changes and exit programming mode.

Reference the Vista 20P programming guide for further information regarding setup and configuration of your Vista Control Panel.

Note:  These instructions work for programming the Vista 15P as well.
