What is the lifespan of the UltraTech UT1240 SLA alarm battery?

The UltraTech UT1240 alarm battery has an average lifespan of 3-5 years depending on frequency of use, ambient temperature, and other environmental factors.

The UT1240 is the replacement battery for both UltraTech UT1240 4 amp and 4.5 amp models. When a low-battery indicator appears on your Honeywell Alarm Control Panel, simply disarm your security system by entering your user code and remove the red and black leads from the old battery. With the old battery disconnected, connect those leads to the corresponding positive and negative terminals on the new UT1240. The control panel should automatically recognize that a new battery has been installed, and the low battery indicator will clear away on its own.

What is a cycle?
The life of many alarm batteries is often measured in cycles. In power supply vernacular, a cycle refers to a rechargeable battery being discharged, an then charged up again. The electro-chemical cell structure of sealed lead-acid batteries make them perfect for recharging. That's why most SLA batteries are able to last for over 1,000 discharge/charge cycles.
