Installing a Pet Immune Motion Detector...
Pet immune detectors, like the 5800PIR-RES Residential Motion Detector, come with the pet immunity function already enabled. The device will work properly if the following mounting instructions are observed. The device should be mounted 7.5-8 feet off the floor. The detector can't be mounted using a mounting bracket or a look-down mirror. Mount the device in a location where animals can't come within six feet of the detector's lens. Be aware of what pieces of furniture your pet likes to climb on, and try to angle the sensor away from these locations.

What is Pet Immunity?

Some motion detectors have the ability to differentiate between the movement of small animals, such as cats and dogs, and the movement of human beings. This function is extremely popular in residences with pets because it prevents against pet-induced false alarms while still protecting your home from human intruders.
