How do I install a wireless door/window sensor with a magnet?

Step 1: Run a Go/No-Go Test
The last thing you want is to spend all that time mounting a sensor only to find out afterward that its not communicating properly with the control panel. During a Go/No-Go Test, you place sensors in your desired locations and then fault the sensors. The control panel will beep if a signal has been received. If not, this gives users the opportunity to relocate the sensor or add a wireless repeater, like the 5800RP, to improve signal strength for out-of-range sensors. Consult your instruction manual for steps on how to run this test for your sensor.

Step 2: Mounting
With double-sided tape, attach the transmitter to the door/window frame. For doors, mount on the vertical part of the frame opposite the hinges. For windows, mount on the bottom of the frame, aligned to the left or right of the window. When installing the magnet, mount it beside the sensor marked for alignment with double-sided tape.

How it all works:
When a door or window is opened, a gap is created between the magnet and the sensor. This tells the security system that an access point has been opened, which subsequently triggers an alarm. It's important that the magnet and sensor are mounted close enough together so the alarm is not triggered when the door or window is shut. Reference your sensor's manual to find out the maximum distance apart the sensor and magnet should be mounted.
