What is the average life of an alarm sensor battery?

On average, an alarm sensor battery has a 3-5 year life. However, the sensor model, frequency of use, and type of battery in question can affect the lifespan of a battery.

For a more accurate answer, reference the Honeywell manual that came with your wireless sensor. In it you will find more detailed information regarding the average lifespan of the sensor's battery. Battery type (lithium or alkaline) can also impact the length of time the battery will last. Lithium batteries are more prevalent in today's wireless sensors because they tend to last longer. How frequently a sensor is used is another contributing factor to the life of a battery. Obviously, devices that see more use, like a motion detector near a busy doorway, will have a far more limited battery life than that motion detector in a less populated room.
