What does the bF error message on my Honeywell keypad mean?

Last Updated: 11/15/2013
By The bF error is an indication that there is a problem with your alarm's communicator or the communicator's device cover is open.

If the device cover is ajar, simply close it tightly and clear the bF error message on your keypad by entering your master code and then clicking "Off". Alarm communicators are often outfitted with a tamper guard that alerts the home or business owner that a communicator cover has been opened. This alert comes in the form of a bF error message.

A bF error can also appear if the control panel is unable to transmit a signal to central station. For internet communicators, like the 7847i, there could be multiple causes of this error. The most common being that your internet is down. Whether the router or modem lost power or your network is down, an IP alarm signal is failing to be sent. For cellular communicators, like the GSMV4G, you could be getting poor signal reception
from the nearest cell tower. For power outages or temporary lapses in internet or cellular signal, the system should self-correct as soon as power or signal is restored. Once communication has been restored, enter your master code then click "Off" to clear away the bF error display. If the error persists, contact your security system dealer.
